WCDP Statement on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

Statement from the Warren County (Ohio) Democratic Party on the Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization:

Today’s ruling from the Supreme Court overturning 50 years of precedent and ending women’s reproductive rights is tragic and heartbreaking, but also completely predictable.

From the moment Donald Trump took office in 2017, the far-right swung into action to pack the courts with partisan right-wing extremists who would overturn the last half-century of progress: not just abortion but also contraception, same-sex marriage, & fundamental LGBTQ+ rights.

While real families in Ohio are worried about their rights, the Ohio GOP is cheering. They’ve made it clear that their goal is to ban all abortion and contraception in the state of Ohio, and this ruling will start making it possible for them to do so.

Fortunately, we can still reverse course, and it starts with us, the grassroots: We must elect Democrats who will stand up for our rights at the local, state, & federal level. Polls show that the majority of Ohioans support reproductive rights, and we must vote like it.

We can take back our county, our state, and our country from the far-right minority that has unlawfully seized control of it, but only if we all work together. We call on all Ohioans to join us in this fight.
