LEAD Ohio: Women Leading Ohio Training
Dec 13 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

2023 is the year for electing non-partisan local offices: Township trustees and fiscal officers, mayors, city and village councils and fiscal boards, and school boards.

It’s not too early to start thinking and planning if we really want to win some of these contests. Please join LEAD Ohio for “The ‘Pow-Her’ To Run for Office”, a virtual training event for those who are interested in running (or those who know someone who might be interested in running) for public office in 2023.

LEAD Ohio staff will cover necessary first steps when considering a run for office and then how to start a campaign after deciding to run. Maybe you or another woman in your life is thinking they might want to run for something? Join LEAD Ohio to hear about and discuss everything from how to search for open offices, to having conversations about running with your family, to filing petitions.

Workers Memorial Day (Cincinnati) @ UAW Local 863 Union Hall
Apr 27 @ 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm

More than 50 years ago on April 28, the Occupational Safety and Health Act went into effect, promising every worker the right to a safe job — a fundamental right. The law was won because of the tireless efforts of the labor movement, which organized for safer working conditions and demanded action from the government to protect working people.

Since then, unions and our allies have fought hard to make that promise a reality—winning protections that have made jobs safer and saved lives. But our work is not done. Each year, thousands of workers are killed and millions more suffer injury and illness because of dangerous working conditions that are preventable.

Each April 28, the labor movement commemorates Workers Memorial Day to remember workers killed, injured, or made ill on the job, and to renew the fight for strong safety and health protections. Please join our union brothers and sisters in acknowledging this solemn occasion.
